24th March 2017
On Tuesday 14th March, 29 Year 6 students from local primary schools came to Goole Academy as part of their continued participation in the Areté programme for a maths session entitle ‘Think like a Computer’. The day was intended to introduce students to the idea of the binary system (base 2) used by computers to perform calculations. However, such was the students’ ability and enthusiasm, this had to be extended to base4 and hexadecimal (base 16) as well.
Assistant Principal, Mr Jackson, who delivered the session said “I was amazed by the mathematical skills the students demonstrated. They surpassed all my expectations and thrived on being challenged”.
