The Music Department at Goole Academy offers pupils the chance to get involved in all aspects of music, allowing creativity into their lives. Throughout KS3 pupils learn performance and composition skills on instruments ranging from guitars, ukuleles and keyboards to drums including African and Samba drumming.
As they progress through school, students acquire theory skills and general musicianship needed to be an effective musician. Students who choose music will complete either a GCSE or BTEC Level 2 qualification during their time at the Academy, the latter focussing on the music industry.
The Academy promotes all area of music and has good links with local primary schools where students lead workshops on various different instruments, thus allowing them to become leaders in music.
The Department is well equipped thus being able to offer extensive extra-curricular opportunities including a choir and The Ukulele Orchestra of Goole Academy. The launch of the Goole Academy song writing group has been very successful and pupils regularly perform songs they have composed to the general public. Regular showcase concerts also give students the experience of performing in front of a live audience. Peripatetic lessons are also available on all instrument types so come and get involved and let your creativity grow!
